After finishing his engineering degree, Helgi was instrumental in opening a branch of a German software company in the USA, managing pre-sales, and enhancement of the software to match the market requirements in the US and Canada.
In 2000 Helgi became the CIO of BRAIN AG in Germany and was instrumental in the restructuring and sale of the operation to Infor Global Solutions.
From 2003 Helgi worked at Infor Global Solutions as a vice president of development and chief architect. Where he participated in 40+ acquisition transitions, including the integration and optimization of the development organization, driving a development team of core developers and providing direction to all the product teams. During his time at Infor, the company went from US$ 80M in revenue to over US$ 3B.
In 2011, Helgi went back to his roots in building and launching new software when he joined a startup, FusionHealth, as a Chief Technology Officer.
Helgi regularly appears as a speaker and guest lecturer on topics such as mergers and acquisitions, technology choices, big data and change management in software development. He regularly advises companies on software, software development, and technology choices. In 2017 he joined Board Advisors as a specialist in technology and software development.
